If your update went wrong then you may well find that your iPhone is stuck on a blank boot screen or on the Apple logo and it won’t start up properly. You’re going to want to connect to iTunes and try DFU (Device Firmware Upgrade) mode.
Potential solution:
- Hold down the Sleep/Wake button to turn your iPhone off.
- Open iTunes on your computer and connect your iPhone.
- Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for ten seconds, and then release the Sleep/Wake button.
- Continue to hold down the Home button until you see a pop-up on iTunes stating that “iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes.”
- Your iPhone screen should be blank, if you see a logo or message on it then you are not in DFU mode.
- Select your iPhone in the left hand column of iTunes and select Summary then Restore.
- You may need to install the iOS 7 update again.
I don't take responsibility if anything goes wrong

What to Do When iPhone Is iPhone Stuck on Apple Logo.
Hi....I have a question?? I know this/your post is 2015 but you might be able to help me.
I have an iPhone 4 iOS 7.1.2. Whatever app I'm using when I'm trying to type, when i tap on the globe button to use punctuation or numbers.....totally unresponsive. The emojis just show up.
I have flicked apps away and re-started
wake/sleep button & home button at the same time
held the globe button down longer to activate
Gone to "settings" and fiddled with keyboards
Oh I almost forgot.....the screen is cracked......big time. From the googling i've done it seems like a " dead spot " but it's only the globe button so I don't know.?.?
I can't think of anything else to tell you...oh yes I can't really delete apps and re-install because every app I'm using such as fb, WhatsApp, safari, everything in the App store requires iOS 8 or later so it will not allow me to re-install. I've had to many experiences where I've deleted an app thinking I'll just go get it again and have not even been offered an " older version ". So that's out.
I hope you get this and might have some idea what i can do?.? This just happened earlier today. I thought maybe during the night ( the iPhone falls asleep in my bed ) that I may have accidentally tapped something while I slept but I think the re-boot would have solved that.
Thanks hope to hear from you........
Hi....Victoria again....I just had something happen that might help determine the cause of the "dead spot"?
I was sitting here and turned my iPhone 4 horizontally and then tapped the globe button...it worked.
Also it seems to be dead on the "left" side of the screen ( only top and bottom) because in whattsapp at the top left the back arrow would not work either. So globe at bottom left and arrow at top left.
So this is good information but I don't have a clue what this means....hahaha Hoping you do..
Thanks
